Building capacity for meal preparation
This focused workshop is designed to provide occupational therapists with the essential skills and knowledge to support clients in building capacity for meal preparation. The training will cover various evidence-based approaches and practical techniques to assess, plan, and evaluate interventions effectively.
The workshop will kick off with a brief overview of the NDIS, outlining key elements relevant to OT interventions. Following this, we will dive into OT intervention approaches, highlighting their application in meal preparation tasks. A comprehensive functional task analysis of cooking will be conducted using the PEO Model (Person-Environment-Occupation), which will help participants understand the complexities of meal preparation. This will be followed by a detailed session on OT assessment, covering both standardised and non-standardised approaches.
Goal setting will be a critical focus, guiding participants on how to set meaningful, client-centered goals. The workshop will then move on to OT intervention strategies, highlighting evidence-based approaches that can be implemented to support clients in developing meal preparation skills. An OT evaluation segment will teach participants how to track progress and measure outcomes effectively. Real-world applications will be demonstrated through a detailed case study, providing practical insights into the intervention process.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
The host was very informative and tailored the session to what was requested/wanted to be focused on during the session which was very helpful.
The on-demand format of the workshop was extremely convenient and allowed me to engage with the material at my own pace. It seemlessly went through the intervention process and made it relevant to the NDIS space. Highly recommend.
