Understand Complex Home Modification processes
Complex home modifications are a high risk area of practice for OT’s working within the NDIS. With the introduction of criteria for undertaking the assessor role also comes the need for sound knowledge and understanding of the process to be followed in undertaking CHM modifications in the NDIS context. The workshop will focus on understanding the NDIS rules and application of the Home Modification operational guidelines. It will also include an overview of the various processes based on risk and cost, with respect to assessment, quoting and reporting. We will review the reporting required for complex home modifications plus discuss various case scenarios demonstrating home mods success. This will include consideration of capital additions and relocation applications.

This workshop was so helpful for me as an OT that is already completing minor and CHM assessment/applications, mainly due to the inconsistent NDIS processes e.g. project managers across different states. It also helped to reassure that I am following correct processes. It was also very helpful having the examples provided with adequate background information, photos and diagrams, e.g. deviating from the Australian Standards (re: shower size).
I have learned more in the past two hours about home mods - particularly writing report/rules etc. then in the past 2.5 years of actually doing the work. This was extremely clear and well presented. Thank you for also including the CHM guidance document, I am already including most of this information but will definitely make some tweaks to my CHM applications based on your suggestions, that can enhance them further.
